Citizen-centric features added to 'smart Chandigarh' app

Android based "Smart Chandigarh" application, which was prepared by UT food and supplies and consumer affairs wing, and was launched on the eve of Republic Day, has added three fresh citizen-centric features.

These include details of registration and licencing authority, first aid and administration directory with searchable option. Now, complete information related to RLA and transport department has been updated which includes procedure to make all kind of driving licence (learner's licence), renewal, procedure to make all kind of vehicle registrations (new registration, transfers, all forms related to driving licence and vehicle registrations can be downloaded. The smartphone application will also provide information regarding "first aid" guidance.

The idea of putting first aid manual in the application is to make people aware of medical emergency situations and precautions to be taken thereof. This application would be available for Apple users from March. The department has received many positive comments about this smartphone application. Google Play reports more than 4,000 downloads within 18 days of its launch.
