Every website sits on a computer known as a web server. This
server is actually connected to the internet. It's a piece of software that permits
a website to be viewed applying HTTP. Every Internet server that is connected
to the Internet is allotted a unique address comprised of a group of four numbers
between 0 and 255 segregated by periods. A single web server may support
multiple websites, or a single website may be hosted on several linked or
mirrored web servers.
Each web server has a unique address, known as Internet
Protocol address, that tells other computers connected to the Internet where to
find the server on the vast network.
